Phyllis and her husband, Ross, were deeply impacted by studying Experiencing God and in late 1994, sensed God’s call for them to leave Ocala, Florida and the comfort and security of having family close by, well-paying jobs which they loved and many long-time friends to go to Cochrane, Alberta Canada in order for Ross to attend the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary. As Phyllis led groups through Experiencing God, she says she practically memorized the audio tapes and completely wore out two sets, playing them over and over as God taught her and revealed Himself to her in that crucial time of surrender.
Soon after arriving in Canada and the start of the school year, Phyllis began serving as an administrative assistant to Dr. Richard Blackaby, then president of the seminary. She has continued to work for and alongside him since that time. In August 2006, Phyllis joined BMI and serves as Richard’s administrative assistant, coordinating his travel and handling details of his ministry for him.
Phyllis remains involved with the wives of the seminary students and has a heart desire to see them grow in their relationship with the Lord and to become all that God wants them to be.
Ross was employed by the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary upon his graduation in 1998 and retired in late 2006. Ross and Phyllis continue to live in Cochrane, while all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren live in the U.S.
